WORKHORSE OF THE SEA

 

All hail the mighty tug, workhorse of the sea

Pushing or pulling , full steam ahead

Ubiquitous as can be.

 

Towing barges laden, with fuel or huge work cranes

Garbage and recyclables

Or freight cars for the trains.

 

Feisty tugs shoulder; nudge vessels to their berths

Through swift currents and eddies

Breaking ice and even worse.

 

Ofttimes the first to arrive when there’s a disaster

When ship’s afire or in distress

They can get there faster.

 

Bringing aid to those in need, their own lives at stake

Pulling people from flames

Yet, the risk they take.

 

All hail the mighty tug, workhorse of the sea

For pushing, pulling, contributing

To life and liberty.
