POETRY CHALLENGE: STRUM
STRUMMING MY LIFEā¦
As he strummed the strings of his guitar
And sang, it struck a strident chord
Within her, compelling her
To look into his eyes.
From the moment their eyes had met
Across the room, it was if the crowd
Had abated and they were alone,
A vibrant heat between them.
He sang to her then (as he did now)
With his sweet, baritone voice
Of love and how it caused
Triumph over obstacles.
Rugged hands strumming lightly over
Her body, honoring the longevity of their love,
Caused paroxysms of desire to rush
And tingle in familiar waves.
Frenzied fans knew the strumming
Of his fingers coaxed melody
And harmony from the frets of the
Stringed music box
Yet, she knew that through hell and
High water, his hands, his voice
And the loving masculinity of him
Created harmony from her chaos.
And their two hearts, beating as one
Would drum out a duet of their own
Harmonizing, until the sun
Set on the horizon of their lives.
