Guilty of Grace
Robed in humiliation, back of the crowd
Dead man walking, sin was my shroud
Death and despair of my own making
No expectations, hell's walls quaking
Gaping hole; its mouth open wide
In one fell swoop to take me inside
Completing the work that sin had begun
I had no strength nor energy to run
The eyes so serene; a sight to behold
Looking on me; were they not cold?
No; these held a look of compassion
Contrary to what had been the fashion
I could not look, turned my gaze to the ground
For never such great love had I found
In that moment my misery had ended
God's saving grace to me was extended
