GAMES
A game is an organized activity or sport
It can be on a board, a table or a court
Rules will tell a person how to lose or win
Was heard at the Olympics, “Let the games begin”.
Ancient Romans laughed, even scoffed and jeered
While watching as Christians at the gates appeared
Given a weapon: spear, javelin, or sword,
In that vast arena, at the mercy of their Lord
Soon the gates would open and then they were inside
Wrestling with lions, there was no place to hide.
Although the javelin’s point could pierce the angry beast
Often the Christians would be the lion’s feast.
These martyrs gave their lives in honor of the King
That gave his blood a ransom as an offering
Thus, remembering the death he died upon the tree
They sacrificed their lives willingly.
The crowd could not believe the glow upon the faces
Of Christians lifted up in death, into heavenly places
Somehow the game had lost its great appeal
For in the end they found the testimony real.
