APPLE OF HIS EYE
My father looks with tenderness from his heavenly throne
Is so glad He gave his life for one He calls his own
For now I have the chance to show, in vain He did not die
As I live my life for him, the apple of his eye.
Each of us makes mistakes, of that you can be sure
But Jesus, as a loving father would, lets His grace endure
Teaching me with patient words when what I do is wrong
Then, when I somehow get it right, He gives my heart a song.
He has the knack of showing up just when I need him most
But my brothers and sisters, too, say, He's always at his post
Making each and every moment feel it has all his attention
The way he makes one feel is far too great to mention.
When I'm with Jesus in my room or riding in my car
I feel his presence with me and my cares so very far
He wraps me in his loving arms and I once more give a sigh
Just to know he loves me best; I'm the apple of His eye.
